Welcome to the weekly roundup for the week of 6/24! Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far. I can’t believe the 4th Of July is right around the corner.
Album I’ve Been Checking Out:
This week I have been voraciously listening to one of my favorite young saxophonists, Troy Roberts. His new album: Tales And Tones is an extremely pleasurable listen and I highly suggest checking it out! This band is incredible and if I know the fans of this podcast, I think a large majority of you will have a new favorite saxophone player 🙂
Favorite Youtube Clip Of The Week:
If you needed a reason to feel bad about yourself this week, here it is haha. More importantly, this video should make you want to get your ass in a practice room for one to twelve hours. Chris Potter is definitely not backing off and just continues to impress me more and more every time I hear him. Oh, and Marcus Gilmore isn’t sounding too bad either!
Blog I have Been Reading:
I just came across this interesting blog the other day on a suggestion from a friend. Great material about what makes us, well, us and some good reading on social interactions and how society and people function. Check out the Science of Us HERE.
Summer Festival To Check Out:
If you’re on the East Coast and anywhere near Canada, you’ll want to check out one of the best festivals in the world. The Montreal Jazz Festival runs from 6/25-7/5 and there will be music happening all over the city for the duration. If you’ve never been to Montreal, it’s an amazingly vibrant city that knows it’s jazz and there’s always something to do. Check it out!
